Fundació Catalana Síndrome de Down (FCSD), far from pursuing new dedicated infrastructures for people with Down Syndrome (DS), believes that all people with learning disabilities can find a place in society, given
individualized support.
2004
- 20th Anniversary of FCSD. Keynote lecture by Mrs. Rigoberta Menchú Tum, Nobel Peace Prize on “Human Rights in the 21st. Century”.
- Gold Medal of Honor of the Catalan Parliament awarded to Mrs. Montserrat Trueta for her task and dedication towards improving the quality of life of DS people and social integration for people with learning difficulties.

- VIII International Conference on Down Syndrome. Constructing the future: Questions for today. Answers for tomorrow.
2002
- Extraordinary Reward in the I Edition of Catalonia’s Education Awards, given to FCSD by the Education’s Department Generalitat of Catalonia, to prize the “intense task and exceptional dedication in favour
of school integration of pupils with DS.
2001
- Preparation and Social Skills Service (PAS) open to people with other kinds of mental disabilities.
- 1st “Research Paper on the Person with Down Syndrome” Contest, for 12th-grade students in Catalan schools who have chosen Down syndrome as a study topic.
- The Library included in the Joint University Catalogue for Catalonia (CCUC).
- II International Conference on Chromosome 21 and Medical Research on Down Syndrome, and meeting of the Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group (DSMIG).
2000
- I’m going home, Independent Living Support Service set up, for people with disabilities to be able to choose where to live and whom to live with. The role of the foundation is to organise the required support for implementation of an Independent Living Plan developed jointly with the person, as well as to assist with establishing or maintaining social ties and relationships.
