Fundació Catalana Síndrome de Down (FCSD), far from pursuing new dedicated infrastructures for people with Down Syndrome (DS), believes that all people with learning disabilities can find a place in society, given individualized support.

1984

  • Fundació Catalana Síndrome de Down (FCSD) established on March 30th, and declared of public utility on October 24th.
  • Establishment of a Down Syndrome Information and Care Service (providing counselling, resource location, etc.) open to all applicants.
  • Early Stimulation Service set up and accredited by the Child Development and Mental Retardation Center at University of Washington. Shortly thereafter, Renamed Early Intervention Service.

1982

  • Enactment of Spain’s Law for the Social Integration of the Handicapped (LISMI) – promoted by Ramon Trias Fargas, chair of the drafting committee and subsequently co-founder of Fundació Catalana Síndrome de Down.
