The FCSD has always paid particular attention to the medical aspects of DS, since good physical condition is necessary to begin a proper educational intervention. For this reason, the Down Medical Centre (-CMD- Centre Mèdic Down) was created in 1986.

Alongside the health care programme, the CMD also began publishing a magazine called "Síndrome de Down. Trabajos y Resúmenes Científicos". This magazine was published continuously for 10 years; it has now changed its name, original format and size. Its new name is "DS. International Medical Review on Down Syndrome" (with English abstracts).

The CMD has also promoted clinical research on DS, taking part in various research projects either directly or indirectly.
