The FCSD has always paid particular attention to the medical aspects of DS, since good physical condition is necessary to begin a proper educational intervention. For this reason, the Down Medical Centre (-CMD- Centre Mèdic Down) was created in 1986

Alongside the health care programme, the CMD also began publishing a magazine called Síndrome de Down . Trabajos y Resúmenes Científicos, This magazine was published continuously for 10 years; it has now changed its name, original format and size. Its new name is DS . International Medical Review on Down Syndrome (with English abstracts). The CMD
has also promoted clinical research on DS, taking part in various research
projects either directly or indirectly.
