A study of lifelong education and support needs of workers with intellectual disabilities in mainstream workplaces
Supporting organizations: FCSD, via the firm Desarrollo y Comunicación. Funding from the Consorci de Formació Continuada de Catalunya. 2005.
The aim is to show the need for professional followup by a team of specialist professionals providing lifelong education and training (for employment, personal, and social matters) in order for a worker with a disability to keep a mainstream job, benefit from it and have it benefit society as well. The specialized support and followup provided by supported-employment organizations is a determining factor for continued employment of people with intellectual disabilities and to encourage hiring by mainstream employers. This was the tested hypothesis.
