Assessing the neuropsychological status of adults with DS is very important, as some of them will suffer early-onset progressive neurological impairment. Status must be determined at baseline and regularly reassessed thereafter to spot any neurological changes and apply suitable treatment.

In 2010 a joint research project was launched with the Centre de Regulació Genòmica to look into the effect of dietary green tea concentrates on cognitive development and  halting of AD in adults with DS.
